At an event that took place on Wednesday in Bangkok, Samsung announced the coming of a new midrange Android smartphone called Galaxy A80 with an impressive 48MP rotating rear camera that can also serve a selfie need. This latest addition to Galaxy A-series is loaded with cool features that make the smartphone unique.
The Galaxy A80 is totally built for those set of people that “lives in the moment” with an innovative triple-lens rotating camera as the major highlight of the new smartphone. With this rotating camera mechanism, users can take high-quality photo shots on both sides (selfie and rear) with just one camera, while still enjoying the new notch-less Infinity display.
THIS IS HOW THE CAMERA WORKS: We all know the traditional camera setup we have in major Android smartphones. That is, having separate rear and front cameras for capturing what is happening on both sides. In Galaxy A80, Samsung decided to tow a different part by introducing just one camera with a rotating mechanism to serve as the main shooter and selfie needs. The Android smartphone uses a slider mechanism that automatically rotates depending on whether you want to take photographs from the back or a selfie. For more on this, you can check out the hands-on from Unbox PH’s Lea Cruiz below.
Design and Display
The Samsung Galaxy A80 has a classic and smooth design with a glass and metal frames that look beautiful on the smartphone. The Android smartphone also comes with smooth curves at the edges and can fit comfortably in your hand. Some will complain that their smartphones have awkward and unfitting color options, not when you behold the Phantom Black, Angel Gold, and Ghost White color variants that the phone has.
The phone features the New Infinity Display with no bezel. Notches, punch-holes, and selfie sensors are not available on the phone. Just you and your 6.7 Full HD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels that offers enough canvas to explore contents.
Camera and Battery
We’ve reviewed so many Android smartphones with a super 48MP camera so far this year. We’ve also seen some with pop-up selfie shooters ( just like Vivo V15 or Oppo F11 Pro). But what we don’t see often is a smartphone with a single 48MP rear camera that is armed with a motorized pop-up and spring-loaded rotate mechanism, capable of turning the 48MP back module to the front for selfie needs. I believe I have explained much about how the rotating pop up front camera works. You can see the attached video above for visual.

The Galaxy A80 features a triple rear camera of which 48MP is the main camera, 8MP ultra-wide camera, and an 8MP 3D depth camera. The three sensors combine together to produce the best photographs and perfect video contents. The phone also features Super Steady mode from Galaxy S10 for smooth live videos, even when your journey is on the adventurous side.
In terms of battery, Galaxy A80 features a 3,700mAh battery with 25W super-fast charging technology. Additionally, Samsung stated that the phone comes with an “intelligent battery” that can adapt to your routines, with enough power to serve you through a day.
