Many Nigerians have lost all their life savings to fraudsters simply because they are unaware of the right step to take in order to block or close a bank account that may have been compromised. In fact, I decided to make this article because of an awful experience a friend of mine had recently with a fraudster.

According to my friend, his UBA ATM card detail was compromised; the scammer used the card detail and created a new Amazon account with his bank account name, and then purchased some Amazon Gift cards worth $1500 ($500 x 3). This was more than his life savings with the bank.

Though this happened during the weekend, but if he had acted fast by closing or blocking the account when he received the first purchase debit alert, it would have saved him a lot of money.
Knowing how to block or close your bank account is very important because in times of emergency, running to the bank might be too late- most especially during the weekends.

So, how do you block or close your bank account when you suspect fraudulent activities on the account, your phone stolen, or you misplaced your bank ATM card? There is no rocket science to this. You can do it with either your feature phone or smartphone.
