Itel becomes top smartphone brand under Rs 5,000: Counterpoint report

    A Transsion Holdings-owned sub-brand, itel has been reported to be the no 1 smartphone brand under Rs 5,000 price segment for offline channels. This was contained in a current report released by Counterpoint Research for the third quarter of 2019(Q3 2019).

    According to the industrial research carried out by the team; out of the 3 top smartphones under Rs 5,000 retail price segment in the offline market, 2 were from itel. Then, in the feature phone segment, itel still occupies the no 2 spot with a 16% market share for its value-added feature phone releases.

    “itel in 2019 has registered a phenomenal growth of 40 percent YOY by way of its robust offline retail presence. Its product portfolio offering trendy technological features at affordable price range along with impactful and localized marketing strategy has helped itel top the chart in the sub Rs 5,000 segment in offline channel,” Tarun Pathak, associate director at Counterpoint Research added.

    A few months ago, itel released two budget Android smartphones called S15 and S15 Pro, and both devices are waxing strong in the market. Both devices are equipped with an 8MP main rear camera, 16MP front shooter, and rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. While itel S15 sports 1GB RAM, 3000mAh battery, and 3G network; S15 Pro comes with 2GB RAM, 4,000mAh battery capacity, and 4G network.
