To fix this kind of issue, we have highlighted some causes of the problem and how you can solve them yourself.

1: The Processor Fan not functioning

If the processor fan is not functioning properly, this will reduce the air circulation, thereby causing overheating to the processor.  When the processor fan is bad, the air that is supposed to cool the overheated CPU will not be there, which will eventually result in a system crash.

  • Solution: To fix it, pay attention to whether the cable in the fan device is damaged; if something is broken you can fix this part. Or if there is no visible problem, you can disconnect the fan power and then connect it again, after that you can try turning on the laptop or computer system to see if the fan is functioning.

NOTE:  Make sure you return the circuit arrangement before turning on the computer. If it still doesn’t work, you can replace the defective fan or take it to a qualified laptop engineer.

2: The System is Overheating

Overheating can equally make your laptop suddenly die when it is not properly monitored.  As mentioned above, a non-functioning fan is one of the major causes of overheating on a laptop or computer. Another cause might also be the use of our laptop or computer in an unfriendly condition. For example, we put the laptop on a mattress or a place that lacks proper air circulation. In this situation there is actually nothing wrong or damaged with the components of your system, rather the unhealthy usage is the problem.

  • Solution: To solve this problem, always place your laptop on a hard flat area whenever it is on use. If the laptop is really hot you can cool it down immediately by placing it on a ceramic tile. This method is what I personally use on a regular basis to cool my hot PC a bit down. Remember, you can avoid this overheating problem by reducing your habit of putting the laptop in an inhospitable place.

Dirty Components

Components in our computer circuit should always be kept clean. In laptops or computers, dust is a silent killer and can make your laptop suddenly go off when not checked.  However, computers that have been in used for a long time, of course, could have stored thick dust. Cleaning the device regularly with a safe cleaning brush tool helps to improve the performance and air circulation to avoid overheating.

  • The solution: Try and find out the parts of your laptop or computer that have gathered dust or dirt. Usually, the easiest components that are prone to dust or dirt are those around the air vents or near the CPU fan. Clean the dirty parts with safe tools- do not use your hands directly. You can use a special cleaning brush for gadgets.

After the dirty parts are well cleaned, then you can install the device and try it. From what we’ve gathered so far and personal experiences, dirty RAM can also cause a laptop or computer to shut down suddenly.  A dirty RAM can also be cleaned with a gadget cleaning brush or a clean dry cloth. Simply brush the metal (copper) surface of the RAM using the tool until it is clean. Note> Do not to hold metal with your hand directly.

Problematic software

Don’t think the software can’t cause the computer or laptop to shut down suddenly. Software is a program that enables a computer to perform a specific task, as opposed to the physical components of the system (hardware).

This includes application software such as a word processor, which enables a user to perform a task, and system software such as an operating system, which enables other software to run properly, by interfacing with hardware and with other software. Sometimes, the software might develop a problem which will subsequently make the system to crash.

  • Solution: To prevent or solve software problems, we start by installing an up-to-date antivirus. Scan until the malware is completely wiped-out. And please, don’t install more than 1 or 2 antiviruses. This is because too many antiviruses may cause your computer/laptop to be slow and there is the possibility of the antivirus misbehaving.

These are some of the common causes that make your laptop or computer to die suddenly and how to fix them. Hopefully, this article will be useful and add insight to some minor challenges we encounter with our laptops. Please Share or Comment if there is anything that needs to be added!
