Moto X4 Specs and Review: The Bridge between G Series and Z Series

As I have mentioned earlier, the all-new Moto X4 has been the newest addition in the Motorola X series. After a break of 2 years, Motorola finally launched a phone in the X series and is all set to hit the market. It has a price tag of almost 200 Euro as for the European market.

The Moto X specs are tempting, to be honest, but we will be tearing that up for you so that you can have a better understanding of the phone. As you all know, we will be going through some important aspects of the phone, which will be giving us the required information so that we can have a better understanding of the product and its performance. The aspects are as follows:

  • Design
  • Display
  • Performance
  • Camera
  • Battery
  • Sensors and Other Features
  • Water Resistance

So without wasting any time, let us dig into the inspection real quick. I will be faltered if you guys stick with me till the very end of this article.

Design of Moto X4: Excellent Metal and Glass Finish!

The first thing which will catch your eye is the all-new camera module and the metal and glass finish. I am very much satisfied with the looks by far, and you will be satisfied as well after reading the design attributes.

The all-new Moto X4 comes with a metal and glass finish. The frame is made out of high-quality aluminum, and the front and the back is of glass. The front side, which is the screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and the glass back is also protected with that as well. The Metal finish and the glass back give the phone a very classy look ad is indeed a phone to show off in your circle. The phone has a very steady weight balance as it is weighted around 163 grams.

The dimension of the phone is 5.84 inches in length, 2.89 inches in width, and 0.31 inches in the breadth. So as we speak, the all-new Moto X4 is just about the ideal size of a smartphone and is very comfortable to hold on to. The camera bump on the back is slightly elevated from the base of the phone, as that is the X factor of the phone. It gives the phone a very classy and appealing look, and the metal framing is just the icing on the cake.

And

The volume adjustment button and the Power switch is on the right side of the phone. Moderately thick bezels are there on the top and the bottom. The bottom portion of the front side, we will see the fingerprint sensor cum home button with the primary microphone. The top is the selfie camera, the earpiece, the sensor hole, and the LED flash are installed. On the top of the phone, we have the Hybrid SIM slot, and on the bottom, we have the 3.5 mm headphone jack and the USB type C charging cum data port. The back there is another microphone that means this device will do a decent job on the noise cancellation department.

Overall, the phone has a unique design. The build quality and the finishing is worth appreciating. The main concern is, however, the camera bump. As it is elevated from the base, it gives a wobbly feeling when the phone is rested on the back on a flat surface. But to some users, that is not a big issue. The design is compacted and enduring to some extend, and if you are a Moto fan, you will be craving for this phone to be in your hands.

Lenovo K10 Note Review

The Display of the All-New Moto X4: The IPS LCD Excellence

Perhaps, the most exposed part of the phone is its display. People look for good quality screens as you will see the screes mainly. The all-new Moto X4 offers a treat for the fans as far as the display is concerned.

The display is an IPS LCD screen. The 5.2 inches full high definition IPS LCD screen has been a treat for the user I tell you. The color sharpness ad the balance is top-notch. This display has a resolution of 1080 pixels into 1920 pixels. That means you can view your videos in full HD. The screen to body ratio is about 68.4%, and the aspect ratio is 16:9.

I have been reviewing the screen for quite some time now, and I must tell you, this is a pretty decent screen. This works decently in the bright light conditions as well. So, if you are under the bright sun, it will give you decent feedback.

Overall I am satisfied with the screen performance, and I would definitely suggest this phone as per the screen is concerned.

The Camera of the Moto X4: Wide Angle Camera Delight!

The All-New Moto X4 has come up with a new dual-camera module. This dual-camera setup allows you to click amazing photos and even allows you to click photos from wider angles. Cool, right!

From the dual-camera setup, the main camera is a 1.4 micrometer 12 Mega Pixel camera with an aperture count of f/2.0. This camera comes with a Dual Pixel PDAF sensor. The exciting part is the second camera. The Second camera is a wide-angle camera with a viewing angle of 120 degrees. This 13 mm wide-angle 8 Mega Pixel camera has an aperture of f/2.2. But this has no Autofocus feature.

Nevertheless, you can click wonderful photos with this device, and it works really well in all light conditions, thanks to the PDAF Dual Pixel Technology. The main camera has a video recording supported up to 4K at the frame rate of 30 frames per second. It can also record at 1080p in a frame rate of 30 fps or 60 frames per second.

And

Now let us focus on the front-facing camera, AKA, the Selfie Camera. The Selfie camera has a 1.0 micrometer 16 Mega Pixel camera with an aperture count of f/2.0.

The selfies are pretty decent to look at, and I must tell you that Moto X4 has done a great job considering the fact that it has been not that much of a camera phone. The video in the front-facing camera can be done at a resolution of 1080p at the frame rate of 30 frames per second.

Overall the camera performance is pretty decent compared to the other competitors at this price point. Moto X4 has been doing well so far. Let us find out more about its ability in the performance section.

The Performance of the Moto X4

When I was reading about the Moto X4 specs, before the launch of this phone, I was dazzled to see what this phone has to offer. As we have witnessed that in order to judge the performance of a particular smartphone, we need to see and examine the software and the hardware sector of the said phone. The performance depends on the very collaboration between the software that the phone runs with and the hardware with which the phone builds the base. We will be seeing what is under the hood of the Moto X4 and what software is being used to run the phone smoothly.

The hardware of the all-new Moto X4

The Moto X4 runs on the chipset of Qualcomm Snapdragon 630. It is an excellent mid-range budget chipset with Octa-Core power clocked at almost 2.2 GHz Cortex A53. This chipset is pretty decent when it comes to the power distribution and the performance boost. Motorola could have used the 650 instead of 630, but they chose the safe option to reduce the cost. However, 650 has the upper hand on the 630 chipsets. Having said that, this phone is giving good feedback to this processor. The Graphics Processing Unit is of Adreno 508. It gives that extra push to the device to maximize the impact.

This phone has three variants of RAM. One is of 3 GB, and the other two is of 4 GB and 6 GB. The internal storage has two options. One is 32 GB, and the other is 64 GB.

So, the phone comes in three modules whatsoever. These are 3 GB Ram and 32 GB of Storage, 4 GB Ram of 64 GB Storage, and the last one is 6 GB of Ram and 64 GB of internal storage.

The stock android is pretty much stock, I would say. But the phone runs pretty swiftly in all the Android versions.

Overall the performance is pretty decent, and it does give a boost when it comes to multitasking and intense gaming.

The battery of Moto X4

The Battery is of 3000 mAh, which is nonremovable. It comes with Motorola’s signature turbo charging feature. The charging brick which is provided in the box is 15 Watts, which is the turbocharger for this device.

Sensors and Other Features

The fingerprint scanner is front-mounted, and the other sensors like an accelerator, proximity, gyro, and compass are included in the phone to give you all-round feedback.

This phone has an IP 68 water resistance certification. That means this phone is water and dustproof. This is a new feature which is new to Motorola phones.
