Oppo has been cruising along with the all-new Reno series. The camera and processing power of the Reno series has been top-notch. Oppo Reno 2Z has been the latest addition to the Reno family. The predecessor, Oppo Reno2, was a big hit in the market. And now its successor, Oppo Reno 2Z, was all set to hit the stores on the 6th of September, 2019. This phone was announced in late August, and right after the announcement, it created a huge hype. So without wasting more words, let us see what this phone is made of and why you should you need to buy it. We will also talk about the Oppo Reno 2Z Price and Review.
Before digging into the review, we need to remind ourselves that Oppo is a Chinese smartphone manufacturing brand that is currently very active in the market. They have been producing some of the greatest smartphones in the existing market right now, and people are appreciating what they are manufacturing as per the needs and the desires of the people.
So let us move into the review.
Oppo Reno 2Z Review: The Quad Camera Beast
Oppo Reno 2Z is the latest edition of the Reno family. We all know about the Reno phones and what they are really capable of. So, people already have high hopes on Oppo Reno 2Z. Can Reno2 Z live up to the expectations, or will it fall right off the cliff under this immense pressure? Let us find it out.
As you have guessed it right, we will be examining the phone in some aspects which will give us a clear view of what to expect and what the phone is really about. The key aspects which we will be going through one by one today are:
- Sensors and Other Features
- Water Resistance
So without further ado, we move on to the next segment.
Oppo Reno 2Z Design: The EL Picasso!
Dim the lights of your room, play some Fur Elise, or some romantic Mozart numbers in the background because things are gonna get a bit hot right now. At first, let us unbox this beauty. The one which we have right now with us is the Luminous Black version of the phone. And Oh, Boy! Isn’t it a beauty! Considering The Oppo Reno 2Z price, this is some design!
This smartphone is indeed an art as far as the design is concerned. I love the fact that the camera module is embalmed inside the glass back. It makes it sleeker than usual. And the finish is very smooth. I love the cool little plays that the phone does when the light source changes. It is indeed, a masterpiece.
The Backside contains the Reno branding as the predecessor had. All the cameras are embalmed, as I have said earlier. The first question will come in your mind about the little green ball right above the camera unit. What exactly is it for? To clear the doubts for you, it is actually a ceramic ball. It elevates the phone a bit when it is kept on a flatter surface so that the camera module does not get any scratches. Cool and innovative thinking, right?
The phone itself is very comfortable to hold. It has a dimension of 6.39 inches in length, 2.98 inches in width, and 0.34 inches in the breadth. So pretty standard-sized phone, super comfortable as far as the grip is concerned. However, the weight is almost 195 grams. Yes, it is a bit on the heavier side, I admit.
But when you are using this phone on a regular basis, you will be able to get used to it within no time.
The frame is made of high-quality aluminum, and both the front and the back is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Altogether, this phone has made a huge impression as a good looking smartphone.
As far as the attributes are concerned, the lock button is on the right side of the frame, as well as the Micro SD and Dual SIM Slot. The power cum lock button has a green indication mark on it; the feedback of the button is premium in one word. On the left side of the form factor, there is the all-important volume adjustment button, which is also bounced back pretty well, actually.
There is a secondary microphone for noise cancelation and the rising camera on the top. We will get to the camera later, but when the camera rises, it has cool ambient lights on both sides, which makes it look really good.
In the base, the all-important 3.5 mm headphone jack, USB Type C port, and the speaker grills with the primary microphone are installed.
Overall the phone is a gem as far as the design is concerned. I don’t know about the greater lot, but I have become a huge fan of this phone already. However, I am one of those few people who are really into the performance rather than the look. Yet, I am dazzled with this particular product. Kudos to Oppo for building this beauty.
Now let us focus on what the phone has to offer more on the display section.

Oppo Reno 2Z Display: The AMOLED Full HD display
Oppo Reno Series has brilliant screens altogether, and they have not failed to amuse the fans every single time. Phones like these have to come in AMOLED display. This has become an unwritten rule nowadays.
The display is an AMOLED display, just as I have mentioned earlier. This is a full high definition display with a resolution of 1080 pixels into 2340 pixels. The PPI count is equivalent to 395. As there is a rising camera, so the display does not have a notch or bezels in hectic forms. So we will be enjoying a full-screen experience altogether as the screen to body ratio is close to 85%.
The colors and the refresh rate is very crisp and fast. The User Interface works awesome and does compliment the AMOLED display really well. This display works really well indoors and outdoors in broad daylight. So you will be enjoying this screen very much.
Now let us see what is inside the hood and from where the power comes from.
Oppo Reno 2Z Performance: The Hectic Helio Processor!
As we know, we will be inspecting the hardware and the software subsections one by one and will try to see how the sub-sectors collaborate with each other and boost the performance of the Oppo Reno 2Z.
Right after reading the headline of this segment, people will start to scratch their heads and think why Mediatek? Mediatek generally produces low-end processors and chipsets for low-end phones. But we constantly forget that this is a processor company that ALSO makes high-end processors like Intel makes dual-core processors and Core i9 at the same time.
In this particular phone, Mediatek has given one of their powerful processors, The Mediatek MT6733 Helio P90. This 12 nm chipset runs in 8 cores. It is somewhat comparable to the Snapdragon 710 processors.
The clock speed, however, is almost 2.2 GHz in this processor. So there is decent power under the hood to maximize the speed of the smartphone. The GPU is PowerVR GM9446.
This phone comes with an 8 GB RAM and two variants of storage; 128 GB and 256 GB. So, I don’t think that you would need external storage support unless you store all your data inside the phone.
This phone runs with the latest version of Android 9.0 PIE and is upgradable up to Android Version 10. The Operating system is ColorOS version 7.0. The software is very much stock Android experience, and people will love it as the apps are fully loaded and well decorated.
I personally like what Oppo is doing with the phone by far. It is making a long-lasting impression. Wait till the camera segment comes up, which is right about next.
Oppo Reno 2Z Camera: The Quad Camera Perfectionist
Oppo Reno Series is mainly known for its excellent camera experience whatsoever, and Oppo Reno 2Z has certainly not been an exception. As the Oppo Reno 2Z price is concerned, the camera is a real treat for the user.
The rear camera is a quad-camera setup with a 0.8 micrometer 48 Mega Pixels Main wide camera of aperture f/1.7, the 13 mm Ultra-Wide 8 Mega Pixels of aperture f/2.2, a 2 Mega Pixels B/W Monochromatic Camera with an aperture of f/2.4 and last but not the least an f/2.4 2 Mega Pixels depth sensor to finish the module.
As for the picture quality, it is just perfect. The detailing and the sharpness and the color combination, you name it, Oppo has perfected it! The performance of the camera is low, and extremely low light stands out like a shining star in the dark.
The Videography can be done up to 4k at the frame rate of 30 fps and 1080 p at the frame rate of 30 fps with gyro-EIS sensors, which stabilizes the frames.
For the motorized pop-up or the Rising Camera, a sweet 16 Mega Pixels Camera with an aperture count of f/2.2 really pushes the standards upwards. The selfies are pretty good, and the edge detection in the portrait is at another level.
The video can be recorded in 1080p at a frame rate of 30 fps.
Battery: The VOOC 2.0 Quick Charge and More!
Oppo Reno 2Z comes with a Lithium Polymer 4000 mAh Battery to support all-day battery life. It also comes with the Signature VOOC charging 2.0. A 20 Watt power brick comes with the box and a USB type C cable as well. So as far as the battery life is concerned, it is not a hiccup as it will endure a whole day easily.
Sensors and Other Features
Oppo Reno 2Z comes with an optical in-display fingerprint scanner. It has all the basic sensors like accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass.
Oppo Reno 2Z is a great phone to own. But unfortunately, it does not have any certified water resistance.

But the design and the Camera performance is awe-striking if I need to be brutally honest about those. I admit that I am one of the few lots which are more into performance.
