Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has added two android smartphones to its K-series called Redmi K30 (4G) with its Redmi K30 5G variant, and the higher model known as Redmi K30 Pro. This post is not about the K30 Pro, rather it is a review of the K30 and K30 5G and the expected prices in Nigeria. The two smartphones by what we gathered are equipped with massive 64MP cameras, along with a 6.67-inch 120Hz display.

The two smartphones are almost identical in features except that the Redmi K30 supports 4G while the K30 5G- as the name indicates supports 5G network. But, when it comes to design, both devices featured an identical design.  The only noticeable difference between these latest flagship smartphones is the SoC under the hood.

Now, let’s review the features of both devices and their expected prices.

    Display and Camera

As I said earlier, Redmi K30 and Redmi K30 5G have almost the same features, which include the same display sizes. The devices come with a 6.67 inches IPS LCD display with 1080 x 2400 pixels of screen resolution and 395 ppi density. For protection against minor falls, the smartphones are armed with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5, HDR10, and 120Hz screen.

In terms of camera, both Android smartphones come with quad-camera sensors at the back which includes a massive 64MP (f/1.9 aperture) Sony IMX686 primary camera, 8MP (f/2.2 aperture)  ultrawide sensor, 2MP (f/2.4 aperture) dedicated macro camera, and another 2MP (f/2.4  aperture)depth sensor. On the front, there is a dual-camera setup that contains 20MP and 2MP for taking selfies and video calls. Just like the Realme X2 Pro, K30 and K30 5G cameras are fully equipped to take excellent photographs and selfies, even in a low light environment.

    Configurations and Battery

    [the_ad id=”1490″]

In as much as both phones are not on the same price range, the SoC in use is another point difference between the devices. While the Redmi K30 4G is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 with Adreno 620 handling the graphical requirements; the K30 5G variant is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G with the same Adreno 620 GPU. The Snapdragon 765 SoC is equally the same chipset powering the latest Realme X50 5G. The chipset also integrates the 5G modem on the die, resulting in lower power consumption. The Redmi K30 5G comes with dual-mode 5G, supporting both SA and NSA networks. In terms of RAM and storage, both smartphones come in four variants: 6GB/64GB, 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB, and 8GB/256GB.

As for the battery, the phones boast 4,500mAh battery capacity with 30W fast charging support to match up with the 5G network and the processor. The phone also features a fingerprint scanner integrated within the power button and also retains some classic features like the 3.5mm headphone jack and the IR Blaster.
