    Samsung Smart TVs To Support iTunes Movies

    Samsung has announced that Samsung Smart TV models will start supporting the iTunes Movies and TV Shows app and AirPlay 2 beginning from March(Spring) this year.  With this latest development, Samsung is going to be the first television manufacturer to feature this service and indeed the first non-Apple product to include it.

    According to Samsung, this latest service will be made available on 2018 Samsung Smart TVs via firmware update, while the 2019 Samsung Smart TVs will be shipped with the feature. Furthermore, the iTunes movies and TV Shows app will be available on Samsung Smart TVs in over 100 countries worldwide, while the Apple Airplay will debut on Samsung Smart TVs in 190 countries.

    Samsung Smart TV users will be able to rent and watch iTunes Movies and TV shows through this new  AirPlay 2 app. Currently, Apple can boast of hundreds of thousands of movies and TV show episodes and also the largest library of 4K HDR movies of any service. AirPlay 2 support is also being included, so Samsung Smart TV users can be able to play videos, photos, music, podcasts and more from Apple devices directly to Samsung Smart TVs, including QLED 4K and 8K TVs, The Frame and Serif lifestyle TVs, as well as other Samsung UHD and HD models.

    The Executive Vice President, Service Business of Visual Display at Samsung Electronics,  Won-Jin Lee, said Samsung Smart TVs, over the years, have grown to become one of the largest entertainment platforms available on the market.

    “We pride ourselves on working with top industry leaders to deliver the widest range of content services to our Smart TV platform,” said Won-Jin Lee.  “Bringing more content, value and open platform functionality to Samsung TV owners and Apple customers through iTunes and AirPlay is ideal for everyone,” Lee concluded.

    Also, the Senior vice president of Internet Software and Services at Apple, Eddy Cue, said Iphone, iPad and Mac users could stream content from their iOS or Mac devices to their television.

    “We look forward to bringing the iTunes and AirPlay 2 experience to even more customers around the world through Samsung Smart TVs, so iPhone, iPad and Mac users have yet another way to enjoy all their favorite content on the biggest screen in their home,” said Eddy Cue, senior vice president of Internet Software and Services at Apple.
