Two Huawei Staffs Arrested In Poland Over Spying Allegation

    Information gathered from Polish news source says that two Huawei staffs were on Tuesday morning arrested by Polish government over allegations of spying for Chinese government. This is coming after Huawei CFO got arrested last year in Canada.

    The source said that the District Court in Warsaw had on Thursday issued an arrest warrant of former ABW officer Piotr D. and sales director in Poland for Huawei. Officers of the Internal Security Agency arrested and charged both suspects with act. 130, para.1 regarding espionage against the Republic of Poland.

    The counterintelligence agency claims it has strong evidence against both suspects and alleged that the detainees acted for the benefit of the Chinese special service.

    The two suspects therefore pleaded not guilty to the allegations. Pending when the trial commence, both suspects will remain in custody for the next three months and could face up to 10 years in prison if found guilty.

    Reacting on the situation, Huawei representative on his statement said, “Huawei is aware of the situation and is monitoring it on an ongoing basis. For now, we do not comment on this matter. “
