Xiaomi has been providing us with smartphones, which are really powerful yet within our budget. Yes, you heard it right! No wonder they are called the flagship killer!

Xiaomi has been producing some fabulous phones with flagship-like configuration but still are almost half the price of the star brands. This competitive pricing has resulted in a boost in sales and popularity all around the globe.

Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Review

The phone which will be reviewed is the flagship killer, the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro. In some regions, it is known as the Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro. So, why flagship killer? Does it kill the phone or something with some cosmic powers? Just kidding! No, the reason behind it being called a flagship killer exclusively because it has been manufactured with the high-end components and configurations. You will typically see this kind of tech in the renowned flagship smartphones.

So, we get that. It is a top-end phone. That means it will be priced around the 900 bucks mark, right? No, that is where the magic happens. As of today, the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro has a price tag of 679.00 US Dollars! This is astonishing! And this is why the phone is one hell of a deal right now in the market. I know you guys are dying to have a review of the phone. So, I am gonna help you guys out this time. Spoilers Alert! I bet you start counting the money because you will be rushing to the stores after reading the full review.

Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Review: The Mighty Flagship Killer!

Xiaomi surprises their fans with excellent smartphones in recent years. One of those wonders is the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro. It is known as the flagship killer for its beast-like performance and endurance. But hold it right there, boys, you don’t wanna rush in just yet. As you know, I have that distinct procedure to ensure all the criteria step by step, which will give me a proper understanding of the phone and its performance. The criteria are:

  • Design
  • Display
  • Performance
  • Camera
  • Battery
  • Sensors and Other features
  • Water Resistance

So, without wasting your time, money, and energy, let us move on to the review real quick.

The Design of Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro: Premium Glass and Metal

As far as the design is concerned, the phone is a premium looking phone. The front and the back is made out of glass, and the frames are made out of high-density aluminum. The backside is just awesome looking with the fire texture and gradient. In my opinion, it is one of the unique phone design I have ever come up with. There are three models available in the market as per the strategy is concerned. The first one is Carbon Black, next up is the Red Flame, and the last one is Glacier Blue. The review unit we have with us today is the Glacier Blue. And I must tell you. This is one hell of a design. The texture looks like a cold fire. You know what I mean!

The front part is the screen. It is entirely notch-less thanks to the popup selfie camera module. And I must tell you. This is one of the best displays in the business. Let the show put aside for a bit because we will be discussing it in the next segment.

On the back, the camera module is a linear centered module. The triple camera setup is one hell of a camera unit, I must say, which is equipped with a dual-LED flash. The MI branding is on the bottom part.

As far as the attributes are concerned, the power cum lock button has a red accent and is pretty haptic in terms of the feedback. The power button and the volume adjustment tool is on the right side of the phone. On the left side, we have nothing.

However

On the top, we have the signature pop up mechanized selfie camera unit. The main attraction of the popup camera is that the sides of the popup slot glow with ambient lights of the same color as the phone. The all-important 3.5 mm headphone jack is just beside the selfie module.

On the bottom, we have the speaker grills and the USB Type C connector with a reverse charging feature. And this is about it.

The overall impression of the design and the attributes of the phone is pretty solid, and I have never looked a beautiful phone like this before. I loved the popup selfie mechanism. Some of you might be having a doubt about the safety and the durability of the moving component. But rest assured guys, Xiaomi has been agile enough to make this beast as self-protective as it can be. As far as the moving mechanism is concerned, Xiaomi has tested it over a million times, and it is as safe as the phone itself.

Now let us talk about the display of the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro.

The Display of the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro: The Full-Screen AMOLED wonder!

Xiaomi has jumped one step further with the display itself as they have decided to go fully notch-less in this particular device. Without any doubt, this is one of the most delicate looking screens out there in the market. The phone has been equipped with a Super AMOLED screen with a full high definition resolution. That means the answer is 1080 pixels into2340 pixels. This 6.39-inch display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The PPI count is almost close to 403 PPI. The show supports HDR 10 contents. So the full-screen viewing experience is virtually buttery smooth and picture-perfect. The high refresh rate, color contrast, and the sharpness of the motion really compliment the intelligent technology of the screen itself.

The top, bottom, and side bezels are pretty narrow. Thus, the screen to body ratio is almost 86.1%. The aspect ratio of the screen is 19:5:9. This display is a very bright display. Thus the show works superbly in the bright light conditions.

I personally like the screen very much as it is almost perfect in all the sections. I personally like the viewing experience. Overall I would be happy to rate this screen a comfortable 9.5 out of 10.

Enough talking about the screen and the design. Now let us move on to the most exciting part of the phone. The performance of the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro

The Performance of the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro: The Snapdragon Beast!

You might have guessed it earlier that when the phone is said to be a flagship killer, then the performance of the phone might be of the A-listers. You have guessed it, right guys! This phone is equipped with all the high-end components and software. But before disclosing the performance impacts, I would like to see what is under the hood and what runs it so smoothly. That means I would like to examine the hardware and the software unit. This will give me a clear understanding of the phone’s true capability.

Hardware

When we talk about the hardware unit, the first thing that comes into my mind is the chipset. You guys will be thrilled to know that the phone comes with the latest and the most powerful chipset in the Qualcomm manufacture line. This phone has been blessed with the seven nanometers Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Octa Core Chipset.

This Octa-Core processor is clocked at 2.84 GHz for the first 4 Kryo 485 Cores, 2.42 GHz for the next three Kryo 485 Cores, and 1.78 GHz for the remaining one. The Graphics Processing Unit is Adreno 640.

The RAM of this phone comes in two variants. The first one is 6 GB, and the second one is 8 GB. The storage, however, is of three variants; 64 GB, 128 GB, and lastly the 256 GB version.

There is no external SD card slot. So you will have to choose the phone storage wisely and according to your needs.

Now let us take a look at the software unit.

Software

This phone runs in Android. The Android version is Android 9, which is commonly known as PIE. There is no further declaration about the phone’s software upgrade to the higher Android versions. The UI or User Interface is the Xiaomi’s signature MIUI. The version is MIUI 10. This MIUI interface is Xiaomi oriented, and it gives a smooth experience overall.

The phone worked superbly when we hit the gas paddle. We pushed the phone really hard; opened almost every app and did heavy multitasking. But thanks to the hardware, it responded pretty well. Intense gaming in high graphics was really smooth in this phone. But this phone does get a bit hot considering the fact that it has a minimal cooling system. That might be an issue in the future, but it is negligible. The performance was no doubt, a flagship-like experience.

Now let us move on to another exciting segment which is the cameras of the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro.

The Camera of the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro: The Triple Camera Delight!

Xiaomi is known for good quality cameras in their phones. But this time they pushed a bit harder. Thus resulted in yet another wonder in the camera unit.

The rear camera is a triple camera module. The main camera is a 26 mm wide-angle camera. It is a 48 Mega Pixels camera with an aperture count of f/1.8. The second camera is a 53 mm telephoto lens with 2x Optical Zoom. The camera is of 8 Mega Pixels, and the aperture count is f/2.4. The third and the last camera of the module is a 12 nm Ultra Wide Camera. It is of 12 Mega Pixels and has an aperture count of f/2.4. The cameras come with PDAF sensors and Image stabilization. The selfie camera is a motorized popup mechanism. It is a 20 Mega Pixels camera with an aperture count of f/2.0.

The picture is amazing, and the night mode is one of the highlights of this camera module. The video recording can be done up to 4k@60fps from the rear cam and 1080p@30fps from the popup selfie camera.

Now let us move to the battery portion.

The Battery of the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro

The phone comes with a 4000 mAh battery with a 27 Watts fast charging which can recharge the phone up to 50 per cent in 30 minutes thanks to the Quick Charge 4+.

Sensors and Other Features

The fingerprint scanner is an in-display optical scanner. Other than that, all the sensors are included.

Water Resistance
